SPIKED Knockout Bullying

SPIKED are committed to promoting the key message - Sport is available to anyone, at any age, at any level. For the bullied child, this seems out of reach and unrealistic.

Over the past few months, SPIKED has been preparing the launch of a huge ‘Anti Bullying’ campaign in partnership with Kidscape. This is due to ongoing and increasing bullying problems across UK schools and communities.

The campaign is lead by Matt Walton (SPIKED Action Sports) and Claude Knights (Kidscape).

This campaign will be in partnership with our chosen partner Kidscape and be rolled out across the UK, endorsed and supported by some of the top athletes across all sectors of action sports, including Dean Amassinger (MMA athlete), Sol Gilbert (MMA coach), Karen Ousey (Undefeated World Muay Thai Champion), Huw James (Science Junkie TV presenter, adventurer), Dan Edwardes ( Traceur - Parkour Generations), John Laverty (Kawasaki Superbikes), plus more names to be announced shortly from the world of MMA, Muay Thai, Boxing, Parkour, Free Running, surfing, wakeboarding, windsurfing, skateboarding, BMX, Superbikes, trials plus more.

This campaign aims to raise awareness of the damages done by bullying, but also aims to raise valuable funds to allow further programmes to be run in schools and communities, where a focus on building children’s self confidence is paramount.
We will be getting children involved in combat and action sport, and demonstrating how sport is a proven mechanism to increase self confidence. These programmes and courses will give bullied children the tools to make new life changes and experience some of the great rewards from being involved with sports.
This campaign will be the first of many and will form the basis of ‘The SPIKED foundation’, where each campaign aims to make action sports accessible to people who can really benefit from building confidence, self esteem and self reliance.

The campaign will be formally launched in January 2011. Please support the campaign by buying the KO Bullying T-shirts, available shortly. All profits going to Kidscape.

A date in the calendar will also be announced shortly where will encourage all MMA, Muay Thai gyms, parkour groups and other action sports clubs to join in with fund raising events for the day.
An estimated 60% of bullying goes un-noticed, so with your help we can help change peoples lives by giving them accessibility to clubs and supportive people who can help them grow in confidence and fulfil newfound skills and ambitions.

SPIKED and Kidscape will be working closely together to deliver confidence building workshops to help bullied children get involved in action sports, thus helping build their confidence, self esteem and respect for themselves.
